We are and will proactively strive to improve the environment by enhancing awareness around us through a sustainable development program to ensure a better quality of life.

Being a friend to the environment cannot be a talk show. It is a lifestyle and a behavior code that are acquired step by step through self-discipline that breaks our harmful habits.

In this sense Schtroumpf have created the GO GREEN program which is a symbol of our unshakeable commitment, dedication care & responsibility towards the environment.

As part of our responsibility, Schtroumpf makes sure to use 100% recycled papers in all the paper delivery packages, napkins, and hand towels. Employees sort large quantities of metal, plastic, and glass wastes and send them to recycling.

This program became a national multistakeholder environment awareness campaign. It is supported by the UNDP, the ministries of Environment, Tourism and Agriculture as well as local and International companies such as Tetra Pak, France Telecom, Coca Cola, Al Bina & Barter Card.

Among the GO GREEN activities which were yearly organized during the past few years

1/ A contest where students from different universities compete in Graphic design around themes like :

• Organic Food
• Forestation and reforestation
• Fresh Water
• Waste management
• Ecotourism
• Combating desertification
• Rural tourism

The wining campaigns in these categories were all printed and disseminated to the public through Billboard campaigns, Flyers, Posters and Placemates.

2/ A 36 hours photo tour to 30 students representing 10 Universities in LEBANON and during which the group outed to regions of Lebanon to get pictures on topics related to Environment such as Combating desertification& Ecotourism.

3/ A 3 days forum in July of every year is held at Schtroumpf Main branch during which the restaurant is packed with individuals from different sectors coming to enjoy several outdoors activities, to see competing projects in the GO GREEN contest, meet environment experts and learn more about methods to preserve the environment.

4/ As a sign of our alignment with national and international celebrations, Go Green participates every year in the World Environment day organized by the ministry of Environment.

5/ An activity is organized on the 5 th of December of every year to celebrate the International Volunteers day during which GO GREEN partners and University students put in action our commitment in activities such as :

• Planting Trees in decertified areas
• Cleaning beaches and rivers

The former UN resident Coordinator in Lebanon Mr Yves De SAN said :
“ GO GREEN is an initiative which reflects our belief that the private sector is a major partner in development and an inevitable agent for a better future”.
